US President Joe Biden has been staying at the plush West Lothian hotel The Dalmahoy during his COP26 visit.

One insider told Edinburgh Live how the wine cellar, which usually holds hundreds of top-end bottles, has been temporarily converted into a makeshift nerve centre allowing agents to monitor activity in the grounds and surrounding areas.

Guests at The Dalmahoy had spotted the presidential limousine - nicknamed ‘The Beast’ - has been parked outside in recent days ready to transport the White House leader from the Capital along the M8 as part of a motorcade containing upwards of 45 vehicles.

biden and his entourage returned to the Dalmahoy on Monday evening following a special reception at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery hosted by UK prime minister Boris Johnson.
