Police in the US believe Irish mum Joan Huber shot dead her husband and two sons before taking her own life.

Detective say they are actively investigating the case, with a gun now being established as the weapon used in the March 4 incident.

On Wednesday, police called to the family home in Reno, Nevada, to discover the bodies of Ms Huber (53), her husband Adam (50) and her two sons Adam (17) and Michael (16).

All four died from gunshot wounds, according to the local medical examiner.
