US opioid crisis: Oklahoma calls drugmakers 'greedy'

The first trial in the United States against pharmaceutical companies blamed for contributing to the opioid crisis is under way in the state of Oklahoma.

Drugmakers are accused of downplaying the addictive risks of their drugs, as opioid overdose deaths shoot up nationwide.

Michael Botticelli, the executive director of the Grayken Center for Addiction at Boston Medical Center and former director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, speaks to Al Jazeera.
