US Office star Mindy Kaling sparks rumours she's secretly married with huge diamond ring

The US Office star Mindy Kaling has left fans convinced that she's secretly married.

Her on-screen character Kelly Kapoor once famously said "I look really good in white" and now she's sparked rumours that she recently donned a bridal gown by wearing a suspicious piece of new jewellery while out and about in Los Angeles.

Snapped smiling as she left Santa Monica restaurant Giorgio Baldi earlier this week, the 41-year-old mother-of-two looked radiant as a huge diamond rock was spotted on her ring finger.

The Mindy Project creator has given no hint of confirmation that she has tied the knot but is known to be notoriously private about her personal life.

In December 2017, the Late Night actress gave birth to a daughter, Katherine Swati to a mystery father. Mindy has chosen not to reveal the identity of Katherine’s dad, nor that of her son Spencer, born last year after a private pregnancy, not even to close friends.

While Mindy has never spoken about her children’s paternity, fans and the media have speculated that it could be the children’s godfather, BJ Novak.

The US Office co-stars have been friends and colleagues for over a decade and have one of Hollywood’s most charming, but confusing, friendships.

The pair met in 2004 when they were both filming and writing the American adaptation of Ricky Gervais ’ hit sitcom. In a case of life imitating art, they began an on-off romantic relationship, like their on-screen characters, Kelly Kapoor and Ryan Howard.

They may not have worked out as a couple but the writers remained best friends, even after they stopped dating. Mindy once described their relationship to People as ‘weird as hell’ before adding: “He’s not my boyfriend, but he is not my best friend. I guess you could describe our relationship as a ‘romantically charged camaraderie with loud arguments,’ but I don’t think Facebook would accept this as a new status.”

Mindy has previously spoken about the benefits of being single and raising her children alone. Writing in her Amazon Original Stories books, the Never Have I Ever producer said: “I save a truly staggering amount of time not having to run my parenting decisions by another person. Good or bad, I can just, like quickly make a decision and move on with my day.

“I think it’s fun and liberating that I don’t have to have sex with the same person for the rest of my life. I’m not saying I want to sleep around until the day I die; I’m just saying that I’ve never been in a monogamous relationship with a person for more than two years where the sex hasn’t become a little boring.”

However, Mindy went on to end 'Searching for Coach Taylor', a book from her essay collection 'Nothing Like I Imagined', with the revelation that she is open to her situation changing.

“There’s so much about my husband-less life that I love, and I do feel confident that it’s the best choice for me right now. But life is long and we’re always changing. When I look back at all the times I felt certain about something, I see that I was often wrong or ended up changing my mind.”

The Mirror has reached out to Mindy’s representatives for comment.
