Us movie spoilers: Jordan Peele reveals truth behind Adelaide and Red

We're scared of Us too.

Get Out director Jordan Peele has delivered a haunting horror with his new film Us that sees the Wilson family confronted by their evil doubles - the Tethered - before violent chaos ensues.

Following a childhood trauma, Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong'o) is terrified while on holiday with her family - and that's before her doppelganger Red even shows up at the Wilson holiday home!

Peele spoke to EMPIRE about the film and made a revelation about the connection between the two characters.

"Coincidence marks a certain proximity to your other in this movie," he explains of Adelaide's anxiety.

Meanwhile, the director revealed that it's all part of Red's master plan.

"It’s a plan that's been in place for a long time, and a plan that was in place to ultimately coincide in one of this family's trips back to the area of her initial trauma."

It all feeds into that final twist ending, Peele reveals and why nothing is certain about either Adelaide or Red.

"The protagonist in the movie is the surrogate for the audience. I wasn’t doing my core theme any justice if I wasn’t revealing that ‘we’ have been the bad guy in this movie, we’ve been following the villain.

(Monkeypaw Productions)

"I say villain lightly because I think there are many experiences of the film, and I think a lot of people go through a question of ‘what is good and evil?’ Does that even exist?

"Both characters are loveable and terrifying based on the lives they’ve led. They’ve inverted their paths."

Makes us want to watch it all over again!

Us is in UK cinemas now.
