US Men’s National Team vs Chile: Match Preview, Start Time, Live Stream, TV Channel, How to Watch USA Friendlies Online

The US Men’s National Team takes the field against Chile on Tuesday night in the second of two March friendlies. USA-Ecuador on Thursday night resulted in a relatively sound 1-0 win, but as players learn new coach Gregg Berhalter’s system, fans will start expecting even more from the Yanks.

US Men’s National Team vs. Chile

Match Preview: Although the USMNT moved to 3-0 under Berhalter, their most recent match was less convincing than the first two. Yes, Ecuador is a better team than Panama, and perhaps better than Costa Rica, but the US also had what should be their preferred roster at the current moment. Europe-based players such as Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, and Tyler Adams all started for the USA, a moment fans have looked forward to for the better part of a year. There were flashes of brilliance and moments of confusion as these players learn to work within Berhalter’s system alongside others such as Wil Trapp, Jordan Morris, and Paul Arriola.

Goalkeeper Sean Johnson didn’t have much work to do in the USMNT’s first match, which is a credit to the defense and the ability of the US – particularly Adams and Trapp – to snuff out Ecuadorian attacks before they reached the last line. The lone goal was provided by Gyasi Zardes in a fluky ricochet off a defender that caromed skyward over a clumsily-retreating Alexander Dominguez.

Chile, meanwhile, is in the midst of their own rebuild, and hopefully, revival. Hardly a year removed from winning back-to-back Copa Américas (the classic South American and the Centario version), Chile failed to qualify for World Cup 2018. They’re desperate to get back to the same form, but a 3-1 loss at the hands of Mexico on Friday did not paint a pretty prediction.
