US man arrested after hiding 44 stolen diamonds up backside

A motorcyclist was arrested in New Mexico after he was caught allegedly trying to smuggle 44 diamonds up his backside.

Eusebio Padilla was stopped by police in Albuquerque for riding his bike without a license plate, when an officer noticed him removing a small bag from his behind.

Officer Daniel deGraff, of Bernalillo County, found almost four-dozen small diamonds in the “baggy”, according to evidence submitted to the city’s Metropolitan court.

Padilla, 23, told Officer deGraff that he’d been given the precious stones by his uncle and was looking to trade them for drugs. He admitted they were likely stolen.

The 23-year-old was charged with tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property. It is not known if he had an attorney.
