The US Treasury Department on Thursday imposed sanctions on Mohammed Abdullah al-Amin and seven of his companies for providing financial and technological support and financial services to Hezbollah, which is on the US list of terrorist organizations.
The Treasury imposed sanctions on companies owned by Amin in Lebanon, including Sierra Gas S.A.L. Offshore, Lama Foods S.A.R.L., Lama Foods International Offshore S.A.L., Impulse S.A.R.L., Impulse International S.A.L. Offshore, M. Marine S.A.L. Offshore and Thaingui S.A.L. Offshore.
“Hezbollah is an Iranian-proxy, and this administration is focused on exposing and disrupting its terrorist funding networks,” said Sigal Mandelker, undersecretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
“We are exerting extraordinary pressure on Hezbollah financiers… to halt their pernicious activities in Lebanon and beyond.”
The US Treasury Department took similar punitive measures in February against Tabaja, a company that operates in Lebanon and several African countries. It is owned by Adham Tabaja, who is also on the international terrorist list.
