US Coordinator for Counter-terrorism Ambassador Nathan Sales traveled to London on Thursday to discuss the UK’s recent blacklsting of Lebanon’s Hezbollah party, announced the State Department Friday.
“Sales congratulated our British allies for their leadership in designating Hezbollah in its entirety and rejecting the false distinction between its military wing and its purportedly ‘political’ wing,” continued the statement.
“As Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently noted, this Iran-sponsored terrorist group has American blood on its hands and continues to plot and carry out attacks in the Middle East, Europe, and around the world,” it added.
Sales emphasized that international pressure is needed “to hold Iran and Hezbollah accountable for their terrorist plotting.”
He underscored the importance of other global partners following the UK’s lead in designating the entire group.
