A series of mass shootings in the United States have pushed Democrats in the US Congress to call for a bill on gun restrictions, including a possible ban on assault arms.
But while the majority of Americans support the move, it's unlikely to become law as there's stiff resistance from Republicans and the powerful gun lobby.
