US energy industry veteran to join board of Edinburgh oil explorer Cairn

Cairn Energy, the Edinburgh-based oil and gas explorer, has named a US industry veteran as a new board member.

Catherine Krajicek, who has spent more than three decades in the industry, will join the group as a £75,500 non-executive director in July.

Krajicek began her career with Conoco as an associate engineer and remained with the company for 22 years across roles in US and Indonesia.

She left in 2007 to join Marathon Oil as asset manager for their Bakken assets before becoming project manager for the firm’s Droshky development project in Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, and then asset manager for all of Marathon's production operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

In 2011, Krajicek was appointed regional vice president to manage one of Marathon's largest assets at the Punto Europea industrial complex on Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea. She retired from Marathon in 2018.

Cairn chairman Ian Tyler said Krajicek’s “strong technical background and depth and breadth of senior management oil and gas industry experience across many different assets and countries will be a significant asset to the board”.

He adde: “We look forward to working with Catherine as the company continues to deliver on its strategic objectives."
