The US embassy in Riyadh strongly condemned on Saturday the "horrific" attack launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen against the Kingdom's Jazan region.
A Saudi citizen and a Yemeni resident were killed while seven civilians were injured in the projectile attack on Friday.
"We express our sincere condolences to their grieving families and wish the survivors a full recovery," said the embassy in a statement.
"Houthi attacks are perpetuating the conflict, prolonging the suffering of the Yemeni people and endangering the Saudi people alongside more than 70,000 US citizens residing in Saudi Arabia," it continued.
"We again call on the Houthis to end their reckless attacks on the people of Saudi Arabia and to engage under UN auspices to end this conflict and bring peace to the people of Yemen."
