US elections 2016: Tim Cook, Elon Musk and other billionaires team up to stop Donald Trump at secret meeting, report claims

Many of the world’s most important technology bosses have held a secret meeting to work out how to stop Donald Trump, a new report claims.

People including Tim Cook and Elon Musk attended a meeting where a secret team was formed to work to take down the Republic frontrunner, according to a report in the Huffington Post.

Donald Trump has threatened both Apple and the entire internet as part of his run to be the Republican candidate for present. And many of the attendees have been actively involved and invested in the promotion of both.

America Enterprise’s World Forum, which took place off the coast of Georgia, was also attended by a range of members of the Republican Party, the report said.

The main topic of the conversation was how the group could stop Donald Trump, according to a report from the meeting. The reports come from Bill Kristol, the editor of the Weekly Standard, and so it is not clear that they reflect the views of all of those present — though some others have expressed their keen disapproval of Donald Trump.

"A specter was haunting the World Forum--the specter of Donald Trump," Mr Kristol wrote in an emailed report from the conference, borrowing the opening lines of the Communist Manifesto. "There was much unhappiness about his emergence, a good deal of talk, some of it insightful and thoughtful, about why he's done so well, and many expressions of hope that he would be defeated."
