US election: Kanye West films himself voting for first time in his life ‘for someone I truly trust… me’

Kanye West has filmed himself voting for the first time in a US presidential election, “for someone I truly trust… me”.

The rapper and unlikely presidential candidate posted a video of himself on social media handing in his ballot on Tuesday.

“God is so good,” West, who made a bid for the White House earlier this year, wrote Twitter.

“Today I am voting for the first time in my life for the President of the United States, and it's for someone I truly trust...me."

West, who is set to appear on the first post-election day episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' on Wednesday night, is believed to have cast his vote in Wyoming, where he is not on the ballot.

He may have written himself onto the ballot, in a move he has encouraged fans to make.

West failed to meet the deadlines needed to get on ballots in all 50 states.

He is an official candidate in states including Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Iowa, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, West Virginia and Vermont.

He is also a write-in candidate in five states including Alabama, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

West visited the White House in October 2018 and famously endorsed Donald Trump in 2016.
