US cyber security firm sets up Belfast base with 15 jobs

A US cyber security company is creating 15 jobs at a new software development and technical centre in Belfast.

Virginia based Nisos focuses on disrupting cyber threats before they cause harm to organisations and said the city’s talent and expertise in cyber was a big draw.

It has roles on offer with a range of experience from graduate to senior level, including software developers, analysts, sales and management positions. All staff will initially work from home, before adopting a hybrid working approach.

The company said it has already filled six for the jobs and aims to hire for the rest of the positions by the end of 2022.

They will work on the company’s specialist product the Nisos Intelligence Platform, David Etue, CEO of Nisos, said.

“As we expand globally, Invest Northern Ireland has provided guidance and introduced us to the talent and expertise available in Northern Ireland,” he said. “Belfast was a clear choice for our requirements, and we are excited to have it as a key part of our international expansion.”

He hinted that headcount may grow beyond an initial 15.

“By setting up a highly specialised development centre here, we will initially build a team of 15 to focus on the continued development of the Nisos Intelligence Platform. The new employees will be an integral part of our long-term growth strategies to support our client base, while also helping us grow our global presence.”

Along with helping to secure the investment for Northern Ireland, Invest NI has offered the company £97,500 of support towards the 15 jobs.

Anne Beggs, Director of Trade and Investment, Invest NI, welcomed the investment.

“To secure this investment for Northern Ireland, our New York team has been working closely with the company since summer 2020 to showcase all that our IT sector and wider business environment have to offer. Nisos’ Northern Ireland centre will play a major role in the company’s plans for global growth and by creating 15 roles and tapping into the skills base here, the company can build on its expertise in intelligence analysis and cybersecurity.”

She said the jobs will contribute over £700,000 in annual wages to the Northern Ireland economy once in place.
