US 'confident' it will meet next deadline to reunite families

The Trump administration says it has reunited over half of the children under the age of five separated from their parents at the Mexico border.

But it still fell short of the minimum amount set by the court as Tuesday's deadline expired.

The government will now have to convince a judge that logistical difficulties and concerns about child welfare affected the process - or face punishment.
