The United States strongly condemned on Tuesday the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia attack on Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport.
"These attacks threaten the lives of many and lead to the injury of innocent civilians," State Department spokesman Morgan Ortagus said in a statement.
“We call for an immediate end to these violent actions, which only exacerbate the conflict in Yemen and deepen mistrust,” she added.
“We stand firmly with our Saudi partners in defending their borders against these continued threats by the Houthis, who rely on Iranian-made weapons and technology to carry out such attacks,” she said.
“We continue to urge all parties to work with UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths toward a political settlement and an end to the conflict in Yemen,” stressed Ortagus.
Eight Saudi civilians and an Indian national were injured in the attack that targeted the airport shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
