US bound Delta airlines flight forced to turn around and land at Dublin Airport due to medical emergency

A flight bound for the US has been forced to land in Dublin due to a medical emergency.

Delta flight DL144 was heading to Orlando, Florida from Amsterdam when it turned around as it flew past the coast of Sligo.

After descending over Cavan and Meath, it then landed into Dublin just before 4pm.

Delta airlines confirmed to Dublin Live that it made the unscheduled stop due to an on board medical situation.

The plane landed without incident and was met by medical personnel on the ground at Dublin Airport.

It is expected to depart once again for Orlando shortly.

A Delta spokesman told Dublin Live: "Delta flight 411 from Amsterdam to Orlando made an unscheduled stop in Dublin due to an on board customer medical situation.

"The flight landed in Dublin without incident and was met by medical personnel.”
