- Vishal Garg, the founder and chief executive of Better Homes & Finance who famously sacked 900 employees on a Zoom call in 2021, has been fired.
- Garg was replaced on 3 August by hedge fund manager Daniel Lewis as interim chief executive, just one week after Lewis joined the board.
- Garg accused Lewis of hoodwinking him to secure a board position before persuading members to remove Garg as chief executive.
- The digital mortgage firm's stock dropped by 45 per cent following the change, despite Garg claiming the company was nearing profitability.
- Garg has hired a lawyer and demanded reinstatement, offering to work for one dollar a year until Better returns to profit.
