US bomb threats - LIVE: Updates as more suspicious packages sent to Trump critics are discovered in the US

A suspicious package similar to those sent to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and CNN has reportedly been found at a New York restaurant owned by the actor Robert De Niro.

The device is the eighth sent to a prominent critic of Donald Trump within three days.

Billionaire George Soros, former CIA director John Brennan, veteran congresswoman Maxine Waters and news organisation CNN have also seemingly been targeted.

The White House has said that President Donald Trump has been briefed on the latest packages to be found.
The FBI confirms there is law enforcement activity at the US mail facility in New Castle, Delaware. It says federal agents and New Castle County Police are responding.

Authorities were reportedly tipped off by a postal worker about a suspicious package addressed to Joe Biden.

According to NBC, the worker contacted police after seeing reports on Wednesday about bombs sent to Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton and others, and recalling seeing a similar package addressed to the vice-president.

The FBI and police first searched Biden's house, but found nothing. Officers then swarmed a post office in New Castle, Delaware, where the package was discovered.

A suspicious package addressed to former vice-president Joe Biden has found reportedly been found at a post office in Delaware.

It contained an explosive device similar to those sent to other leading Democrats this week, police officials told NBC.

If confirmed, this would be the ninth apparent bomb attack on a prominent Trump critic.

The suspicious package sent yesterday to the offices of CNN - a bomb threat many have linked to Donald Trump's frequent attacks on the network - seem have done little to convince the president to tone down his anti-media rhetoric.

In a tweet a few moments ago, Trump blamed "purposely false and inaccurate reporting" for "the anger we see today in our society".

Although not explicitly stated, it seems likely the "the anger" Trump mentions is a reference to the explosives sent to his critics in the past three days.

This has been a rapidly developing story, with several suspicious packages found within hours of each other on Wednesday. Here's what we know so far:
