US and Saudi forces attack Iran-backed groups in Iraq – what we know

Saudi Arabia joined US strikes against Iran -backed groups in Iraq on Wednesday, which resulted in the deaths of at least 20 soldiers.
The strikes occurred after the US military successfully intercepted multiple ballistic missiles launched by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in an attempted surprise attack on US forces.
US Central Command confirmed that all Iranian missiles were intercepted following US President Donald Trump 's meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu .
Saudi Arabian Armed Forces also aided the US military in intercepting over 30 drone attacks by Iran-aligned terrorists in the 72 hours prior.
These escalations took place as Oman proposed a new regional deal aimed at resolving the conflict over the critical Strait of Hormuz.
