Uruguay and hosts Russia have both qualified from Group A and are battling to advance as group winners.
This year is the first time that Russia have advanced from their group, the Soviet Union finished fourth in 1966, and face either Spain or Portugal in the next round after an impressive start to the tournament.
Despite winning their first two games, Uruguay are playing at a fraction of what they are capable of. With a strong defence behind them, they are struggling to effectively transition the ball through the midfield and get the best out of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.

79 mins: Uruguay 2 Russia 0: After a short break in play to allow Lucas Torreira to receive treatment, Uruguay counter again. Martin Caceres' cross from the right is inviting, but it's just not happening for Cavani at this World Cup. The PSG striker throws himself at the delivery but fails to even make a connection.
73 mins: Uruguay 2 Russia 0: Almost! That could have been the moment for Russia to claw their way back into the contest, but it's been passed up by Dzyuba. Played in by Roman Zobnin on the right, the striker cut back inside substitute Cristian Rodriguez to give himself sight of goal, only to curl his shot well wide of the target. It's arguably Russia's best chance of the game, and certainly their best since they went down to ten men.

Given Uruguay’s nature and Russia’s adventure, it will be a very tight and cagey affair. Russia will be desperate to win three World Cup games in a row but face a very tough test.
