It certainly will not be one of the prettiest or most eye-catching matches of the tournament, but Uruguay against Portugal will be one of the more intriguing tactical battles. Both sides like to sit tight and keep hold onto leads earned by their talented strikers.
Uruguay's procession to qualification saw them beat Egypt, Saudi Arabia and host Russia without breaking a sweat. The defence have been impenetrable and Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani are getting warmed up at the tip of the team.
Portgual made much harder work of their group after an enthralling 3-3 draw against Spain in their opening match. A win against Morocco set them on their way and Fernando Santos' side stumbled over the line with a 1-1 draw against Iran, which could have been a much different result but for VAR.
When is Uruguay vs Portugal?
The match is on Saturday 30 June and kicks off at 19:00 at Sochi's Fisht Olympic Stadium.
Where can I watch it?
The round of 16 matches are yet to be divided between ITV and BBC, but one of the broadcasters will be showing full live coverage.
Uruguay have kept clean sheets in all three of their games so far and the opening strike will be key in this tight affair. Ronaldo has been in hot form but comes up against his Madrid nemesis Deigo Godin, who has made a habit of keeping him out for Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital derbies.
Portugal have started with similar performances that saw them edge through their group at the European Championships which they went on to win. Arguably, two of the tournament's dark horses are facing each other, it will be tense and hard battled but an intriguing contest.
