Uri Geller's infamous Euro 96 stunt as he claimed to move ball to seal England's win

Uri Geller has claimed he sabotaged the famous penalty miss which helped England beat arch-rivals Scotland in Euro 96.

The two nations clash again tonight (8pm) in Euro 2020, the first time they have met at a major football tournament for 25 years.

England against the Auld Enemy is the oldest rivalry in the game and dates back nearly 150 years.

And well-known TV psychic Geller has claimed he used his special mind powers to cause Scotland to miss the spot-kick that would have seen them equalise against England in that famous meeting all those years ago.

The miss from midfielder Garry McAllister proved incredibly costly as England, leading 1-0 at the time, recovered and went on to win the contest 2-0, snatching sought-after bragging rights over their noisy neighbours

But this time around British Israeli magician Uri has stressed he will summon the power of Robert The Bruce to help Scotland exact revenge over England.

In a bizarre TV interview on ITV's Lorraine, the 74-year-old illusionist explained he'll be utilising the power of his mind to help Scotland triumph.

"This spoon, Lorraine was in his [Robert The Bruce’s] mouth!” enthused Uri while holding a picture of Robert The Bruce holding a spoon.

“So I am summoning up his spirit, look what Robert The Bruce is holding in his hand!"

Then holding up a Scotland top, Uri stressed: "With all this I will be holding my Scottish shirt which I got from some very powerful people in Scotland, so I will be sending my powers - I have to!

"Do you know Lorraine, when I moved that ball away from Gary McAllister's foot, I received 11,000 hate letters so I didn't know what to do, so I went down to Scotland and bought a Scottish Island.

"I'm going to unleash my powers - you all know what I've done in the past - so Scottish fans if you can hear me, you link up with me, you feel my energy, and let's pray that you will win.

“So Scottish fans if you can hear me, you link up with me and feel my energy.”

Show host Lorraine Kelly was left in fits of laughter as Uri pledged allegiance to Scotland after claiming he did England a big favour last time around.

And Lorraine comically joked: "We will take all the help we can get! That was...different, wasn't it?"
