Irish customers who have purchased a One Step hairdryer or styler on Amazon are being advised to stop using the product immediately due to safety issues that could cause burns.
Nearly 500 of the branded products – which could also have been sold to Irish consumers on other websites – have been delivered into the country.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) warns that a "safety issue" has been identified with the hairdryers and stylers, meaning they're liable to overheat due to faulty design.
This, the CCPC says, poses a "risk of overheating" and users could sustain burns from it as a result.
If you think you've bought one of the affected One Step hairdryers or stylers, you should stop using the product immediately.
You should get in touch with the store where you bought the product – whether that's Amazon or another online platform – to find out if there are any remedies available to you.
The latest CCPC warning comes after the consumer watchdog issued an urgent recall notice on a children's cuddly toy last week.
The ‘MTTXGS Large Crocodile Stuffed Animal Plush Toy’ was advertised on Amazon to people in Ireland although it's not clear if it was purchased by anyone in the country.
The CCPC put the warning on its site and asked any parents who did get it to "discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children".
In a statement, the CCPC said: "A safety issue has been identified, whereby this product presents a choking hazard because of small detachable parts.
"The product’s model number, batch number and barcode are unknown.
"The product was sold online through the Amazon platform."
The notice added: "Given the online availability of this product, it may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland.
If you believe that you may have purchased an affected product, discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.
