Fresh warnings have been issued to everyone in the country who has a PayPal account - even if they rarely use it.
The warning has also been extended to those who have an Amazon account or use Royal Mail and Hermes.
Cruel fraudsters are attempting to steal people's life savings by using a number of scams posing to be the well-known online accounts and couriers.
ITV current affairs programme Tonight shed light on the growing concerns of fraudsters who attempt to swindle victims across the country.
The show aired on Thursday, May 6, at 7.30pm on ITV1, BirminghamLive reports.
The show revealed that scammers are passing themselves off as workers from PayPal and a number of other trusted online payment companies.
A recent Royal Mail scam has, by now, been well publicised but lesser known scams such as the PayPal and Hermes text scams are on the rise.
It is thought that scammers will send a text or an email posing to be a worker from the company.
The criminals will usually send a bogus link or a phone number that when engaged with can take you to a fraudulent website or telephone line.
Once one these fake websites or calls, the criminals can access personal data or even steal money.
An example of a fake text is: "Your PayPal account has been suspended due to suspicious activity. Please contact us immediately at 0123-4567. It is imperative that we speak to you immediately."
Or: "You spent £1,293.17 with PayPal . If you did not make this transaction please call us immediately at 0123-456 or click this link here. Thank You."
Examples of scam emails include but are not limited to emails such as this: "Your order #ZK04769 is confirmed for shipment tomorrow. Please click here to review the shipping details."
But you never placed an order, so you click on the link and login to see what it is. Only later do you realise that the link took you to a bogus website.
Another could look like this: "We have noticed suspicious activity on your account. Please click here to review your recent transactions."
Police forces are still urging people to exercise caution and stay vigilant amid a worrying rise in fraudulent text messages and emails.
A Midland Police Community Support Officer, Sam Doninton said: "I have had a large number of residents mention scams and/or spam texts that they have been receiving as a real problem."
Research listed below also shows Hermes, DVLA and Amazon scams are massively rising, as well as scams relating to banking giants in the UK.
Analysts at Dojo, a payments provider under the Paymentsense brand, have revealed the 10 brands most used in phishing email attacks by fraudsters, to scam people across the UK.
The list of brands, based on search data are PayPal, Amazon, DPD, DVLA, Apple, Royal Mail, Halifax, Virgin Media, Gov.uk, Boots.
