Urgent warning issued to Kilmarnock dog owners after pet is 'injured in woodland trap'

A warning has been issued to Kilmarnock dog owners after a pet was injured earlier this week.

One resident has reported that traps have apparently been left among the woods near to Bellfield.

The woman warned other dog walkers to be cautious when letting their beloved pooches off the lead.

The area concerned is thought to be next to Whatriggs Primary school, locals have said.

The dog owner also confirmed that the matter had been reported to the police.

The Facebook post read: "To all dog walkers that use the Bellfield estate.

"Was walking my dog this morning and spoke to a man who informed me that someone had lain traps in amongst the woods etc and one dog had already been injured.

"I then spoke to a woman who could actually confirm that a dog had been injured.

"So please be careful when letting your pooches off the lead. Police have been informed."
