Bosses of one of the UK's most popular supermarkets have urgently recalled a product over safety fears.
Tesco is withdrawing a key item from its shelves over fears it could cause food poisoning, reports Birmingham Live.
The supermarket giant is recalling its Tesco Finest Taleggio because it could contain Listeria monocytogenes.
According to the product recall information, the item comes in pack sizes of 200g and affects all batch codes, with a use-by date of 25 January 2021.
Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.
Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.
Tesco is recalling the above product.
Product recall notices will be issued to explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
The supermarket giant operates Express and Metro stores across the South West, including in Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Taunton and Bath, as well as larger stores further afield, including giant supermarket outlets in Cribbs Causeway.
