A well used dog food has been urgently recalled over fears it contains traces of salmonella.
Pet owners are being warned that even handling the food could make humans unwell, with customers advised to stop feeding their dogs the product immediately.
They are being urged to return the frozen dog food Rhondda Raw's Beef 80-10-10 to the place where they purchased it for a refund.
The food, popular in the UK, has been withdrawn from shelves amid the urgent recall.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said that the raw frozen dog food is unsafe because traces of salmonella have been found.
Affected products have batch codes 040825/BM and 050825/BM, which are marked on the packaging. The packs are made up of 454g worth of meat and will also show a best before date of August 4, 2026, say the experts.
The FSA said: "Rhondda Raw Ltd are recalling Beef 80/10/10 raw frozen dog food because Salmonella has been found in the product.
"Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause illness in humans and animals. The product could therefore carry a potential risk.
"Rhondda Raw Ltd is recalling the product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.
"This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."
Salmonella is a dangerous strain food bug that can cause illness in both humans and animals, and in particular affect the vulnerable.
Symptoms include fever, diarrhoea and vomiting, and can cause cramps and severe dehydration.
Most people recover without treatment, but in rare cases it can turn deadly.
Around one in 50 sufferers go on to develop a serious blood infection, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are most at risk of complications.
