Urgent travel warning for people going to Spain

Tourists heading for Spain are being warned to brace for disruption as the Foreign Office has issued an urgent travel warning.

The alert issued this week could mean disruption for those travelling today and into the weekend, the possibility of delays continuing into next week.

Brits are being warned of extreme weather as Spain’s meteorological agency (AEMET) issued an “extreme risk” weather warning, reports BirminghamMail .

The alert from the agency comes amid forecasts of torrential rain across Spain in a swathe of areas - including the popular tourist destinations of Alicante, Almeria and Valencia.

Travel warnings - what you need to know

An orange weather warning has been issued for today, Friday the 13th, which says parts of Spain.

The majority of the country will be battered by downpours and much of Spain is included in the orange warning.

The Foreign Office is warning that tourists may experience flash floods in the region which could cause disruption and delays to transport services.

The Foreign Office, as a result, is telling Brits abroad in the area to follow the advice of local authorities.
