Urgent search under way to find Mark Thompson who was last seen leaving South Tyneside hospital

An urgent search is under way to find a man who was reported missing after leaving hospital.

Mark Thompson, 37, was last seen leaving South Tyneside District Hospital at around 8am on Saturday.

It is believed that he had sustained a serious injury to his stomach.

CCTV footage captured him leaving the hospital before receiving treatment.

Police are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare and are now appealing to the public for help.

Mr Thompson is described as around 6ft tall, slim build and bald.

He was last seen wearing a blue hat, black face mask, grey hooded top, a navy jacket and black tracksuit bottoms with white trainers.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting log number 275 27/02/21.
