Missing Gateshead pensioner Mary Reay who has dementia found safe and well

A missing pensioner with dementia who had not been seen for several hours has been found.

Police began a search for Mary Reay who had last been seen by her family at her home in Low Fell, Gateshead.

The 72-year-old was believed to have left the home at around 11am.

Northumbria Police officers said they were growing increasingly worried for Mary, who has dementia, and urged members of the public to help find her.

Just after 9.15pm, the force confirmed that Mary had been found safe and well.

They thanked those who shared the appeal to find her.
