Urgent search for girl, 14, missing since Thursday as police appeal for information

Police in Sheffield have appealed for help tracing a 14-year-old girl who has been missing since Thursday.

The teenager, named Ava, was last seen at around 3pm in the Woodhouse area of the city.

Her family is becoming increasingly worried about her welfare, South Yorkshire Police said.

Ava, whose last name has not been released, is around 5ft 9ins, mixed-race and medium build, with dark hair.

In an appeal shared thousands of times since yesterday, officers urged anyone with information to get in touch.

They said: "Police in Sheffield are asking for your help to find missing 14-year-old Ava.

"Ava was last seen in the Woodhouse area at around 3pm on Thursday 29 July.

"She has not been seen or heard from since and her family and officers are growing concerned for her welfare.

"She is described as mixed-race, around 5ft 9ins with a medium build and dark hair.

"Have you seen Ava?

"If you think you know where she might be, please call 101 quoting incident number 938 of 29 July."
