The news comes as Dunnes Stores pulled some of its popular children’s pyjama sets from sale due to safety fears.

The company said that the risk associated with the product is that of cuts and suffocation, with almost 6,000 sold in Ireland to date.

The affected products are the Digger, Dino, Mermaid and Unicorn short-sleeved pyjama sets for young children.

A spokesperson warned: “A fusible layer inserted and applied to the back of the pyjama top may pose a safety risk if not secure on all garments.”
