Urgent recall for Nanna's apple pies over glass contamination fears

A national recall has been issued for Nanna's family apple pies from Coles, Woolworths, IGA, Foodlands and other independent supermarkets.

All 600-gram apple pies with a best-before date of October 21, 2020 and October 22, 2020, are being recalled.

In a statement on its website, the New South Wales Food Authority said the pies were being recalled due to the potential presence of glass in the Nanna's family apple pie.

It said glass could have found its way into the pies because of "an equipment failure with a supplier" and that the company "has initiated a recall of the affected batches as a precautionary measure".

Consumers are advised not to eat any of the pies and to return them to the place they were purchased to get a full refund.

The New South Wales Food Authority said anyone concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

No other Nanna's food products are affected by the recall.
