Urgent police search for vulnerable man with dementia reported missing from his home

UPDATE: Thomas has been found safe and well.

Police have launched an urgent search to find an elderly man with dementia who has gone missing from his home in the Chrsyton area.

Thomas Moore was last seen at 4.15pm near to S Collins & Son Butches Lindsaybeg Road, heading in the direction of Cumbernauld Road.

The 82-year-old is described as white, around 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build. He is balding with grey hair at the back of his head.

When he was last seen, he was wearing a black jacket with a green checked shirt and green pullover underneath, grey trousers, black shoes, and a checked cap and was using a walking stick.

Constable Stephen Orr, of Coatbridge Police Station, said: “Thomas has dementia and has no mobile phone. Officers are currently carrying out a number of searches in the area to trace him. Given the time of night, it is urgent that we trace Thomas as soon as possible.

“I would urge anyone who has seen Thomas, or who has any information on his whereabouts to contact police via 101 quoting reference number 2335 of 13 October.”
