Urgent police appeal to find missing man, 68, who may have dementia

Police have issued an urgent public appeal to help find a missing man.

Greater Manchester Police said Michael Hope, 68, may been suffering from dementia.

He's been missing from Wythenshawe overnight, as temperatures dropped to below freezing in the aftermath of Storm Arwen.

The force said Mr Hope was 'potentially sleeping rough', which they said was a concern due to the cold weather.

Appeals have now been issued on GMP's social media channels and a photograph of Mr Hope is being circulated.

He was last seen on Greenham Road, Northern Moor, at around 12.30pm on Saturday.

Officers are 'growing increasingly concerned' for his welfare (Manchester Evening News)

In a statement, GMP said: "Can you help police find a missing man from Wythenshawe?

"Michael Hope, 68, was last seen on Greenham Road, Northern Moor, at around 12:30pm on Saturday 27 November 2021.

"He is described as a white male, of medium build, bald with no teeth.

"Michael was last seen wearing a black beanie hat, black coat and blue jeans.

"He may be suffering from dementia and does not own a mobile phone but has been seen on CCTV and is believed to have been shopping for groceries in the Button Lane/Moorcroft Road area.

"He is potentially sleeping rough, which is a concern due to the cold weather.

"Officers are becoming increasingly concerned about Michael and want to make sure he is safe and well."

Anyone with information about Michael's whereabouts should contact police on 0161 856 6606 or 0161 856 66033.
