Missing County Durham man Michael Povey found safe and well, police say

A man who was missing from County Durham has been found "safe and well", police say.

Michael Povey, 33, went missing from his home in Burnopfield last week and officers said they were becoming "increasingly concerned".

Alongside an appeal, Durham Constabulary also shared a photo of the missing man in a bid to raise awareness.

Mr Povey was described as white, 5ft 11in tall, with light brown hair and a beard with officers saying he was also known to wear a beanie hat.

Officers urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to get in touch with the force.

But shortly after the appeal, police confirmed on Monday afternoon that he had been found and thanked those who shared the appeal.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said "Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal to find missing Michael Povey.

"Mr Povey has been found safe and well."
