Man, 83, found after police appeal

UPDATE: Police have found Wilf safe and well.

Police have launched an urgent appeal after an elderly man with dementia went missing from home.

Wilf Burgon, 83, was last seen on CCTV leaving his house in Heaton Chapel at around 7.40am this morning (Monday 15 March).

He was last seen wearing a burgundy leather jacket, striped socks, turquoise cord trousers, a black man bag, a walking stick, glasses and gloves.

GMP say they are concerned for Mr Burgon, particularly as he suffers from dementia.

They have released a photograph of a person caught on CCTV on Monday morning, who they believe to be Wilf.

Anyone who thinks they may have spotted Mr Burgon is being encouraged to contact police on 101 immediately.

An appeal on the force's Facebook page said: "Missing. Wilf Burgon is an 83 year old man who suffers with dementia.

"He was last seen on CCTV leaving his property in Heaton Chapel at around 0740 this morning.

"He was wearing a burgundy leather jacket, striped socks, turquoise cord trousers, black man bag, walking stick, glasses, and gloves."
