Police find Audi car and 'missing' young child safe and well after appeal

Police have traced a missing car and located a child they had feared was inside it.

Met Police appealed for help in tracking down a white Audi A3 which had been reported missing.

The car, registration plate GK20 AFU, was last seen in Beckton Triangle, Newham, at roughly 12.18pm today.

At 3.24pm Met Police tweeted: "Thank you for your retweets.

"The white Audi we appealed for has been found and the child located safe and well elsewhere. We’re establishing the circumstances of the report."

At 1.52pm Met Police wrote on Twitter: "We are urgently trying to locate a white Audi A3 reg GK20 AFU that has been reported missing. 

"We believe there is a young child inside. The car was last seen in Beckton Triangle, E6 #Newham at approx 12:18hrs today. If seen please call 999."

The Met didn't reveal the gender or age of the child.
