Urgent Iceland product recall as 'do not eat' warning issued

A salad line stocked by supermarket giant Iceland is the subject of an urgent product recall due to a labelling error.

Bryans Salads has issued the product recall for three of its pasta salad products, after they were sold with a use-by date that was a month too far in the future.

They could be unsafe to eat after the intended use-by date and there is a potential risk of bacterial growth that could cause illness if consumed, according to the safety notice.

Three types of the Bryans Salads are being urgently recalled as they could cause illness to those who consume them.

The chicken and bacon pasta salad, which is listed on Iceland's website, the prawn pasta salad and cheese pasta salad are all being recalled.

It only affects those with February 7 listed as their use-by date, instead of January 7 as it should have stated.

They could now be unsafe to eat and should avoid being consumed. All three products come in a pack size of 300g.

These products are being recalled by Iceland (FSA)

Bryans Salads is recalling the products and point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

The noticed published on the Food Standards Agency website yesterday (Friday, January 7) advised: "They may be unsafe to eat after the intended ‘use by’ date due to risk of bacterial growth that could cause illness if consumed.

"If you have bought any of the above products, do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund."
