Urgent Garda update as woman allegedly attacked by 'suspicious masked men' in north Dublin

Gardai have issued an urgent update after reports that two men attacked a woman in north Dublin last week.

The woman claiming to be the victim of assault took to Facebook warning locals about a duo in the Ballymun area.

She said that the alleged attackers were dressed all in black with masks on at the time of the incident.

The duo are alleged to have approached her just after 3am on Friday morning but the victim at the centre of the attack is said to have scared them off by smashing a glass on the floor.

Another local reported of similar suspicious activity in the area after a gang tried to enter her house just ten minutes after the nearby alleged attack.

She said: "Everyone be careful, someone tried opening my door last night at 3:30am in Ballymun. Just make sure you double check your doors are locked at night."

Gardai responded to both reports in the area but could not locate anyone in connection with the incidents.

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí received a call of a suspicious approach involving two men, near Balbutcher Lane in Ballymun at approximately 3.20am on Friday, 22 January.
