A recall notice has been issued for a food product sold in certain stores in Ireland.
A well-known supermarket chain with stores in one part of the country released the alert over food safety fears.
Joyce’s Supermarkets of Galway is recalling a batch of its Tipperary brie cheese due to the presence of E. coli.
E. coli at the levels detected "indicates a possible hygiene issue and the potential for the presence of harmful bacteria", according to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.
The batch affected has a use-by date of 17/11/2021.
The full product information is: Joyce’s Supermarkets of Galway Tipperary Brie; pack size: 155g; approval number: IE 1089 EC.
There are five Joyce’s stores in Galway, with the business operating in Athenry, Headford, Indreabhan, Knocknacarra and Tuam.
Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batch.
The FSAI has asked retailers to remove the implicated batch from sale, while customers are advised not to eat the recalled product.
