An 18-year-old girl who went missing from County Durham has been found after an urgent appeal was launched.

Maya Bogatic was reported missing yesterday (Wednesday, December 9) after she was last seen at around 4pm on Church Street, Seaham.

Durham Constabulary said they were becoming "increasingly concerned" for the welfare of Maya and a photograph was released by the force on social media.

However, the police have since confirmed they have found the teenager who is now being looked after by the emergency services.

The force also thanked the public for their help and those who assisted in the search for Maya.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "We are pleased to report that 18-year-old Maya has been located, and is now being looked after by emergency services.

"We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everybody who shared our appeal and to all of our colleagues who assisted in the search.

"All of your help is very much appreciated."
