Urgent appeal to find vulnerable pensioner who disappeared in Glasgow this afternoon

Update as of 19:00: Hugh Craig, 80, has now been found safe and well.

Police are appealing for help from the public to trace a pensioner who went missing in Glasgow city centre this afternoon.

Hugh Parker Craig, 80, was last seen around 1.20pm (Wednesday, December 11) near the Pavilion Theatre in Renfield Street.

Hugh is described as 5ft 7ins tall and wears glasses.

When he was last sighted, he was wearing a grey cap, navy coat with a fur hood and grey trousers.

He may become breathless if he walks for any distance and might also have difficulty in remembering, although he can have a conversation.

He has previous connections to the Knightswood area in Glasgow and also Paisley and Renfrew - so police believe he may try to travel to these areas or still be in the city centre.

There have been reports he got on a bus to Renfrew at 2pm.

Inspector Gavin Smith, of Stewart Street Police Station, said: "Hugh's carers and family are very concerned for his welfare - we are appealing for anyone who may have seen him since 1pm today to get in touch."

Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2004 of 11 December.
