Urgent appeal launched to find missing West Lothian teenagers thought to be in Edinburgh

Police Scotland is appealing for assistance from the public in tracing two teenagers who speak limited English reported missing from West Lothian.

Omar Ali, 16, and Ahmed Elgendy, 17, were last seen at around 3pm on Monday 9, December in Kirknewton where they live.

It is believed that the teenagers are together and may have looked to travel via public transport to Edinburgh.

Omar is described as around 5ft 10ins tall, with short black hair and of slim build.

When last seen he was wearing a waist length black jacket, camouflage bottoms and black Nike trainers.

Ahmed is described as being around 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build, with short black hair and facial hair.

When last seen he was wearing a blue puffer jacket, and either camouflage jogging bottoms or blue jeans.

Both boys speak limited English and their first language is Arabic.

Sergeant Stuart Gilmour from Broxburn Police Station said: “We believe that Omar and Ahmend are together and would ask that any members of the public who may have seen them since Monday afternoon get in touch with police immediately.

“The teenagers both know the Edinburgh area and have previously spent time in the Wester Hailes area in the west of the city and Edinburgh Central Mosque on Potterrow.

"They may be using the bus or public transport network and we would ask that anyone who has seen either boys, or them together, to report this to us as soon as possible.

“If Omar or Ahmed see our appeals we would ask that they contact police so that we know that they are safe.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 4295 of 9 December 2019.
