Urgent appeal for missing babies believed to be with their parents

An urgent appeal has been launched to find two missing babies who are believed to be with their parents.

Officers in Skelmersdale are attempting to trace 18-month-old Nate Saunders and six-month-old Kiya Smart who were last seen at a house on Evenswood in the early hours of Wednesday, June 26.

Although the young children are believed to be with their parents, Kayleigh Smart, 33, and Neil Saunders, 34, there are still serious concern for their welfare .

Anyone who sees the parents or the young babies is being asked to urgently contact police as there is immediate concern for the safety of the two children.

Both Kayleigh and Neil are known to have links to Merseyside but they may also have travelled to Ireland after being last seen.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said in a post on Facebook: "Police have launched an urgent appeal to trace two missing babies.

"Nate Saunders, 18 months, and Kiya Smart, 6 months, were last seen at an address on Evenswood, Skelmersdale in the early hours of Wednesday (June 26th).

"The parents have links to the Merseyside area as well as Lancashire. There is also a suggestion they may have travelled to Ireland."

Detective Inspector Steve Monk, of South Police, said: “I would like to stress that our immediate concern is the safety of these two young children and I would urge anyone who sees the parents or who knows where they may be to get in touch.

“Equally I would urge Kayleigh and Neil to get in touch if they see this appeal so that we can establish the children are okay.”

Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting log number 0470 of June 26th. For immediate sightings please call 999.
