His car was later found in the Irlam area.

Police said they don't believe Mr Beresford is familiar with the area and may be 'lost and confused'.

The appeal was shared on Facebook by GMP Eccles, Cadishead, Barton and Irlam.

An image of him has also been circulated.

Police said: "Stuart Beresford, 73, was last seen on Moss Bank Grove, Worsley, at around lunchtime on July 31.

"He is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, of a slim build, with silver hair at the back and sides.

"He has a silver moustache.

"It is unknown what Stuart was wearing, but normally he wears jeans and a T-shirt, with a jacket.

"Stuart's vehicle was located in the Irlam area.

"We don't believe Stuart is familiar with this area and may be lost and confused.
