Urban Zoo's new technology behind the websites and apps of football giants Everton, Celtic, Wigan and Fulham

A North West firm has signed up a host of top football clubs to use its innovative website, app and content management platform services.

Urban Zoo's new Gamechanger platform has been snapped up by leading sports brands such as Everton FC, Celtic FC, Wigan Athletic, Fulham FC and Stoke City.

The latest recruit is Warrington Wolves, who hail from the same town as the 12-strong tech firm.

According to Urban Zoo's chief commercial officer Rob Moore, Gamechanger is driven by a content management system which delivers a number of benefits to host brands and users, including giving fans a single entry point across all platforms.

He explained: “It’s a very clever system because it makes everything seamless for both the user and a host brand like Warrington Wolves.

"Fans enjoy a single sign-on to all platforms and tailored content via the club app, web site and online store.

“Clubs benefit from being able to publish just the once to multiple platforms and can use a configurable dashboard to show key analytics and data on the move.  There’s much more, of course, and it all adds up to a huge opportunity for us to grow the business.

"There’s significant potential growth for us in the three most popular fan sports and our client list provides huge comfort to new customers when we open talks with them."

He said the company has invested in full technical support across all platforms - and guarantees the resilience of the Gamechanger service, meaning no risk of down-time during key fixtures or other events, such as player transfer windows.

Figures revealed by Warrington Wolves show a marked increase in key metrics such as pageviews, session duration and pages per session.

Warrington Wolves’ head of marketing, Paul MacLeod, said: “We have partnered with Urban Zoo to deliver a website that fits our digital-led marketing strategy. The metrics already are very encouraging, with total sessions up more than 41% and average session duration up almost 17%.”

Mr Moore added that Urban Zoo’s sales forecasts for the current financial year are predicted to see further staff growth on the back of Gamechanger’s ability to drive web site performance.

He said: “Just as it’s a gamechanger for our clients, so it will be for us."

Stephen Fitzsimons, responsible for business growth and investment at Warrington’s private sector-led economic development arm, Warrington & Co, which operates The Base, said: “Gamechanger is typical of the quality and scope of innovation that tenants of The Base are producing.

"Companies like Urban Zoo are helping re-shape our economy and are ensuring that it is fit for the decade ahead and beyond.”
