Urban Outfitters at intu Victoria Centre closes over coronavirus concerns

Urban Outfitters has confirmed that all its stores worldwide will be closed temporarily because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The retail giant has a branch in Nottingham city centre at the intu Victoria Centre which has been confirmed as closed on Monday, March 16.

It is one of a number of major US retailers to temporarily close their doors for at least the next two weeks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Urban Outfitters has confirmed its employees will continue to be paid during the closure.

It also confirmed, to their knowledge, none of its employees had tested positive for coronavirus.

A spokesman for Urban Outfitters said in a statement: "To our UO community.

"As all of our thoughts are on the Covid-19 situation, we wanted to share an update on how Urban Outfitters is responding.

"The safety and health of our community, including our loyal customers and dedicated assoacitates, is always of the utmost importance to us.

"In an effort to protect our communities we have decided to close all of our global stores.

" We will continue to pay out store teams during this time. As far as we know, none of our employees have tested positive for Covid-19.

"Stores will not reopen until at least March 28 and because the situation is complex and evolving rapidly, our plans may change. And if they do, we'll let you know.

"While we'll miss seeing you in our stores, you cans till visit us at our websites and apps. Takle care of each other and we'll see you soon! The UO Team."
